Control your Materials Information with Matereality® Workgroup Material DatabasePro

Matereality’s Version 9 release continues our mission of providing software to streamline materials-related tasks of different kinds of engineers in an enterprise. This newly released video illustrates why Matereality Workgroup Material DatabasePro is ideal for product development teams to build a curated database of materials that are pertinent to your enterprise. You can manage your materials information, selectively share your data with stakeholders, and export your data for use in CAE.

DatapointLabs can rapidly populate your database with relevant, product-specific material data, either by assisting you to load data you already own, or by testing your materials in our ISO certified laboratory. Workgroup owners receive a 10% discount on testing services from DatapointLabs. All of your data, CAE material files, and test reports are deposited directly into your Matereality database.

With Matereality Workgroup Material DatabasePro, you can get your enterprise materials information under control, greatly enhancing the quality of data used while ensuring consistent, error-free utilization throughout your product development environment. Scale up to a Material Data Server Enterprise solution when it is time for the rest of your organization to come on board.

Matereality Partners with BETA CAE Systems, Adds Support for ANSA Software

BETA CAE Systems S.A. and Matereality, LLC announce their collaborative partnership to allow engineers to import CAE material files from Matereality into ANSA’s material database. This interoperability allows engineers using ANSA pre-processor to take advantage of the benefits offered by the Matereality platform in capturing, storing, handling, and exporting material data for numerous CAE analysis platforms. The connectivity is via an ANSA plug-in, released with v16.1.0, which reads material data from a file exported by Matereality. This plug-in is available to all ANSA users... Press Release

“Materials information must be accessible by engineering teams at many phases of the product lifecycle. Our companies’ collaboration serves to streamline engineering workflows across the enterprise by delivering traceable CAE material files from Matereality directly into the ANSA preprocessor." — Hubert Lobo, founder and Chief Technology Officer of Matereality

In Matereality v9 (Service Bulletin), using Author Mode in the CAE Materials Grid, you can upload existing CAE material files from your desktop, or create new CAE material files using available material data. Once your Matereality database has been populated with CAE material files, you can select the ones appropriate for your analysis and export them to a master material file for ANSA. Then use the ANSA plug-in to import it, and apply the desired material file to your analysis. This how-to presentation explains the workflow in detail.

New TestPaks® Available for Altair® RADIOSS® Structural Analysis Solver

Altair RADIOSS is a leading structural analysis solver for highly non-linear problems under dynamic loadings. RADIOSS is used across all industry worldwide to improve the crashworthiness, safety, and manufacturability of structural designs.

New TestPaks have been added to the DatapointLabs Test Catalog to support material data requirements for RADIOSS rate dependent analyses, in particular for foam and rubber materials:

New PolyXtrue TestPaks Deliver Streamlined Material Properties for Extrusion Simulation

The PolyXtrue Extrusion TestPak includes all the testing required to perform an extrusion simulation using fully characterized material properties data. Tests include viscosity versus shear rate (with Bagley correction) at three temperatures; and specific heat versus temperature, thermal conductivity versus temperature, and melt density at the processing temperature.

The PolyXtrue Extrusion Economy TestPak includes the testing to meet the minimum requirements to perform an extrusion simulation. It is similar to the PolyXtrue Extrusion TestPak, with the following exceptions: the Economy TestPak includes viscosity versus shear rate at only two temperatures; and thermal properties are taken from a generic material database rather than specific test data. This delivers an advantage when cost is a concern, or when the thermal properties of the material used in the application are well represented by generic data.

DatapointLabs Research Focuses on Validation of Material Models for Greater Confidence in CAE

DatapointLabs will present A Standardized Mechanism to Validate Crash Models for Ductile Plastics at the 14th International LS-DYNA Users Conference to be held in Dearborn, MI, USA, June 12-14, 2016.

Abstract: Quantifying simulation accuracy before running crash simulations is a helpful confidence building measure. This study continues our development of a mechanism to validate material models for plastics used in modeling high-speed impact. Focusing on models for isotropic materials that include options for rate dependency and failure, we explore other models commonly used for ductile plastics including MAT089, MAT187, and MAT024 running with MAT_ADD_EROSION.
