Applus+ DatapointLabs Marks 30 Years of Delivering Material Properties Data for CAE 2025 Events
Applus+ DatapointLabs Expert Material Testing since 1995

Thanks to the support of our clients and partners, Applus+ DatapointLabs marks the 30th anniversary of our founding this year. Since our beginning, we have maintained our commitment to providing the material properties required for new product development, CAE simulation, and R&D. We have continuously pushed boundaries to expand our capabilities in testing technology and methods, as well as in the types of materials tested. Today we serve a global clientele of more than 2,000 companies in 50 countries. We partner with more than 20 software providers to support more than 30 simulation codes with TestPaks® to provide load-and-go material properties and formatted material input cards for CAE and FEA. Our seasoned, expert technical team operates ISO 17025 and Nadcap accredited laboratories to test virtually any materials, including plastics, composites, metals, foams, rubbers, additive materials, films, adhesives, and more.

Research on Material Model Calibration Strategies to Be Presented at NWC2025

Applus+ DatapointLabs representatives, Dr. Daniel Campos Murcia and Brian Croop, will present their work at NAFEMS World Congress 2025, the largest independent, international conference dedicated to engineering simulation. The event takes place May 19-22, 2025, in Salzburg, Austria.

Comparison of Calibration Strategies for Material Models of Polymers, Foam, and Composite Materials
By Dr. Daniel Campos Murcia and Brian Croop, Applus+ DatapointLabs

Abstract: The accurate calibration of materials models is crucial for simulating the behavior of materials across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and consumer goods. With the increasing complexity of modern materials, particularly polymers, foams, and composite materials, developing reliable and efficient calibration strategies is more important than ever. This paper presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of calibration strategies for material models applied to these materials, focusing on the challenges and best practices for each material class. The study explores the calibration and validation of three specific models: the Fu Chang model for foams, the SAMP model for polymers, and composite damage models for continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites (CFRTPs). The research integrates experimental testing campaigns, such as tensile, shear, compression, and impact tests, under varying strain rates and environmental conditions, to collect detailed data that are essential for effective model fitting. ISO 17025 Reaccreditation Audit Completed
Applus+ DatapointLabs accreditations

Applus+ DatapointLabs has successfully renewed its accreditation for ISO 17025 following an audit completed by A2LA in January 2025. Find details of the scope and current certificates for our ISO 17025 and Nadcap accreditations on our Quality System page.

Quality Manager Retires

Will Liguori, Applus+ DatapointLabs' long-time Quality Manager, celebrated his retirement after 21 years of service.

Will joined DatapointLabs in October 2003 and quietly made his influence felt throughout the company. He coordinated our accreditation audits, managed receiving and order scheduling, and established and maintained our rigorous quality system.

Peter Garson has now taken on the Quality Manager role in addition to his laboratory responsibilities as Aerospace Testing Manager.
